SHAH ALAM – The Malaysian Consultative Council of Islamic Organisations (MAPIM) has strongly condemned the continued killing, wounding, displacement and mass detention of Palestinians in the occupied West Bank, describing the situation as a systematic campaign of repression against an occupied civilian population.
Its president, Mohd Azmi Abdul Hamid, said the international community could no longer remain silent as Palestinians continued to face military attacks, settler violence and arbitrary detention.
“The international community can no longer claim that these crimes occur without its knowledge. The facts are documented. The victims are identified. Yet impunity continues while innocent Palestinians continue to suffer.
“Silence in the face of systematic killing is complicity. Inaction in the face of mass detention is complicity. Continuing normal relations while Palestinian land is stolen and Palestinian children are killed is complicity. The world must choose between defending international law and allowing it to be destroyed by Israeli impunity,” he said in a statement today.
According to MAPIM, since 7 October 2023, at least 1,185 Palestinians have reportedly been killed in the occupied West Bank, including at least 250 children, while 12,652 Palestinians have been wounded and more than 24,000 detained.
The organisation said the figures reflected not isolated security incidents but an organised structure of military occupation, settler violence, territorial seizure, collective punishment and forced displacement.
MAPIM alleged that Palestinian villages continued to be raided, homes invaded, hospitals and medical facilities violated, children killed and detained, farmers attacked and communities driven from their land as illegal Israeli settlements expanded.
It noted that recent violence in the occupied West Bank included deadly attacks involving Israeli forces and settlers, extensive military raids, mass arrests and the storming of a hospital in Nablus.
The organisation also pointed out that more than 700,000 Israeli settlers were now living in the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem despite the widespread international position that the settlements were illegal.
MAPIM also expressed alarm over Israel’s imprisonment of Palestinians.
It said that as of 1 July 2026, 9,299 Palestinians were reportedly being held in Israeli prisons, including 3,244 administrative detainees imprisoned without formal charge or trial.
According to MAPIM, administrative detention allows Palestinians to be imprisoned based on secret allegations without a normal judicial process while detention orders may be repeatedly renewed.
The organisation further cited reports by the United Nations, human rights organisations and former detainees alleging beatings, deprivation, medical neglect, humiliating treatment and other forms of abuse in Israeli detention facilities.
Mohd Azmi said settlers were rarely prosecuted, Israeli soldiers were seldom held meaningfully accountable and Palestinian victims were systematically denied justice.
He also claimed the culture of impunity was sustained by diplomatic protection, weapons, financial assistance and political support provided to Israel by powerful Western governments.
“Statements of concern are meaningless while weapons continue to flow. Calls for restraint are hollow while settlements expand. Expressions of sympathy are unacceptable while Palestinian children continue to be killed,” he said.
MAPIM stressed that the occupied West Bank should not be treated as a secondary issue to Gaza, saying the violence in Gaza, the West Bank and occupied East Jerusalem formed part of one interconnected system of Israeli occupation, apartheid, dispossession and colonial expansion.
The organisation outlined 12 demands, including an immediate end to Israeli military attacks in the occupied West Bank, international protection for Palestinian communities, dismantling of illegal Israeli settlements, prosecution of violent settlers, an end to administrative detention, the release of Palestinians held without charge, independent investigations into alleged abuses in custody, action by the International Criminal Court (ICC), sanctions and an arms embargo against Israel, accountability for governments supporting Israel, stronger action by Muslim and Arab governments, and recognition of the Palestinian people’s right to freedom and self-determination.
MAPIM also called on the Malaysian Government to lead a coordinated international initiative demanding greater protection for Palestinians in the West Bank, the release of prisoners held without trial and meaningful sanctions against those responsible for settler violence and occupation-related crimes.
“The killing must stop. The occupation must end. The prisoners must be freed. Palestine must be liberated,” Mohd Azmi said. – DETIK MALAYSIA
