KUALA LUMPUR – The Malaysian Consultative Council of Islamic Organisations (MAPIM), together with the Alliance of World Mosques in Defence of Al Aqsa (MANAR) and the Secretariate for the Ulama Assembly of Asia (SHURA), has called for an immediate and lasting end to the bloodshed in Gaza.
In a statement issued today, the three organisations said October 7, 2026 marks three years since the escalation of violence that began on October 7, 2023, which they said had resulted in a catastrophe engulfing the Palestinian people.
“Three years have passed, yet the suffering of the Palestinian people has not ended,” the statement said.
MAPIM, MANAR and SHURA urged the international community to move beyond expressions of concern and sympathy, and demonstrate the political will to protect civilians, uphold international law and ensure humanitarian obligations are implemented.
They said the United Nations had reported that nearly the entire population of Gaza remained concentrated in less than half of the territory under overcrowded and extremely difficult conditions.
Despite the ceasefire that took effect in October 2025, violence and insecurity had continued, while humanitarian access remained constrained and recovery had not proceeded at the required scale.
The organisations also cited a joint assessment by the European Union, United Nations and World Bank which reported that more than 1.9 million Palestinians had been internally displaced, while more than 1.2 million people had lost their homes.
“This is not merely a humanitarian emergency. It is a profound test of the international system and its commitment to the principles of human dignity, civilian protection, international humanitarian law and accountability,” they said.
MAPIM, MANAR and SHURA also called for an end to the normalisation of prolonged Palestinian suffering, stressing that a ceasefire must include genuine protection of civilians, sustained humanitarian access, restoration of essential services, reconstruction and a credible political pathway towards Palestinian freedom, rights and self-determination.
They outlined five urgent demands, namely an end to the killing and violence, unrestricted humanitarian access, large-scale recovery and reconstruction, accountability under international law, and addressing the root causes of the conflict.
The organisations further urged the United Nations, UN Security Council, General Assembly, International Criminal Court, International Court of Justice, Organisation of Islamic Cooperation and national governments to translate international law and commitments into effective action.
They also called on Malaysia, OIC member states and Muslim civil society organisations to strengthen coordinated diplomatic, humanitarian, legal and reconstruction efforts.
“Three years of bloodshed is not a historical statistic. Behind every number is a human being. Behind every destroyed home is a family,” they said.
MAPIM, MANAR and SHURA reiterated their call for an immediate and durable end to violence, full humanitarian access, accountability under international law, comprehensive reconstruction and a just and lasting political solution.
“Our message today is clear: End the bloodshed. Protect civilians. Open the humanitarian space. Rebuild Gaza. Uphold international law. Ensure accountability. Secure justice and dignity for the Palestinian people,” the statement said. – DETIK MALAYSIA
